Job Description
At Nahunta Hall, a Reggio Emilia-inspired Montessori school, we nurture each child’s curiosity through activities that inspire creativity and encourage exploration. If you are enthusiastic and enjoy working with young children, we invite you to apply.
Assistant Teachers (known as Guides in a Montessori program) are responsible for one-on-one Montessori instruction, classroom behavior management, monitoring of student progress and school-to-home communications.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to successfully pass a criminal background check. Candidates who are working toward a degree in a field related to early childhood education are strongly encouraged to apply. An ideal instructor is willing to learn American Sign Language, has experience working in a pre-school or elementary classroom, and embodies the philosophy that children should both have fun at school and be academically challenged.
It is essential that interested applicants be committed to a collaborative, co-teaching model in an inquiry-based educational program. No lesson planning is required.
Upon hiring, training in Reggio Emilia and Montessori pedagogical philosophies is provided. You must genuinely like children to be successful in this position.
Can you demonstrate the ability to:
• Positively manage student behavior;
• Follow directions from supervisors; and
• Work successfully in partnership with school administrators, co-teachers, and parents?
This position is part-time. Pay begins at $14.00 per hour. Training sessions for this position begin August 21, 2023.
